Millenium Farm Trust secures new Trustees

22 Mar 2010

On Monday 22nd March I attend an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Millenium Farm Trust. This was to appoint two new Trustees, Peter Hankard and Eve Mathers. The Trust is a Charity that like all charities need to ensure it has proper governance and controls in place and Trustees are an intrinsic part of that process. If the number of Trustees falls below three the trust would have had to cease operations so it was an important meeting.

The Trust is entirely voluntary raising its own money from volunteers and applying to various funding bodies in order to support the help and aid it gives to people with learning disabilities. The Trust offers work, and work experience on farms and works with local farmers and colleges to promote an understanding of the issues and needs affecting farming and people with these disabilities. The Trust operates on two farms at Rede Hall and Old Hall.

I have been an active member of the Millenium Farm Trust since March 2007 and have helping them at various events such as their Open Days at Rede Farm, bag packing at various supermarkets, South Suffolk Show, the Green Fair, and sponsored walks.

The Trust's web site is: www.m-f-t.org.uk

The Trust is entirely dependant on volunteers, donations made and successful grant applications. If you would like to support the Trust with volunteer help or a donation then please contact Bernadette Shrubshall at 2, Oakey Field Road, Thurston, IP31 3RX Tel:01359 230498
